Eye safety hooks have a popular self-locking design, which means that the safety hook closes immediately as soon as a load is applied to the hook. The latch cannot be opened while the hook is loaded, yet releases easily once the load is released. You can open the hook by pressing the catch on the back of the hook. The hook then opens backwards.
